First the RBA, and now Chris Joye have pointed out that DEWR beneit data isn’t consistent with the ABS’s unemployment data … give it time.
History suggests that the ABS unemployment rate leads the DEWR benefit recipient rate (I’ve used ABS NSA Labour Force estimates to form the benefit rate, and seasonally adjusted them both).
